favorite films

Hello Hello.

Today's post will be about "films."
Growing up, I have always loved films, but my love for them got a lot bigger after I have majored in media and took film classes in Canada.

Films give you so many inspirations. It excites my creativity, and some films can be real feast for the eyes. Even if I had a rough day, I can feel great satisfaction just by watching a good film before I tuck in bed.

Recently, I'm watching films even more than I do usually. I watch one almost everyday.  Yep, I know, a bit too much. haha

So today, I would like to introduce you to some of my recent favorite watches.
I will not go into explaining the summary of each film because it's everywhere on the Internet, and plus, I might spoil the fun. I will just briefly write why I liked watching it.

Hope you Enjoy :)

*****************************************************
①BIG FISH / ビッグフィッシュ
I loved how the film naturally incorporated a fantasy aspect into the story.
I found myself being hooked to the film more and more as the story went on.
And the flower scene you see in the picture....aww so cinematographic!

②Any Day Now / チョコレートドーナッツ
A very moving story that will definitely make you think of something.
I cannot believe that the film was based on a true story, and it made me question why people unconsciously believe in one "correct" form of love.

③Lee Daniels' The Butler / 大統領の執事の涙
Although I had already learned about the history of black people fighting for their rights, I feel this film helped me understand about it a lot more. The frustration, resignation, and so many other complex emotions of the main character was depicted very well in the film.

③IRIS / アイリスアプフェル94歳のニューヨーカー
The flamboyantly dressed 93-year-old Iris reminded me of how much power fashion can give us.
My favorite quote from her is..."dressing, and indeed life, is nothing but an experiment."

③Bill Cunningham New York / ビル・カニンガム&ニューヨーク
I have to say I have never seen someone working this happily and excitedly.
I was amazed by his passion and powerful eagerness to spread inspiration to the world.
I feel he was born to inspire people with fashion and photography.

③Coffee and Cigarettes / コーヒーとシガレット

This film might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I loved it.
I just have this weird love for black and white films, and also films with quibbling lines.

******************************************
That's a wrap for today!
I hope I was able to give you  a good suggestion of something to watch this weekend :)

#OOTD black and white

The other day, I went to Taiwan for 4 days. The food was scrumptious, all the historical buildings were beautiful in bright colors, and I had a lot of fun. I vlogged my trip so check it out if you are interested! →https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZiAoTtpufEw

This is the outfit I was wearing in one of the days. The black maxi dress was very comfortable plus breathable - very important when traveling! I topped the outfit off with a big hat from H&M, which not only was a great fashion piece but also a great protector from the sun.

#OOTD just throw on lace

Another super casual outfit I wore the other day to school.
This bottom I am wearing is my most recent purchase. It was way more expensive than what I imagined it would be, but it is worth it! Very comfortable, perfectly washed color, and it matches with every outfit! I will be wearing it a lot.

I topped off the outfit with this elegant lace cardigan, and voila! It makes an outfit a lot more put together than just a tank top and jeans.

#BEAUTY Panasonic まつげくるん (セパレートコーム) EH-SE50P-P

Hello~
Today, I will like to show you my recent favorite makeup (beauty?) product.

『Panasonic まつげくるん(セパレートコーム)EH-SE50P-P』

My friend recommended this hot eyelash curler to me, so I gave it a try.
...and I love it!

My eyelashes are super straight naturally, so I used to get my eyelashes curled professionally.
But now that I got this, I don't need to go any more. It is that good!

It was less than 3000 yen (about $30), so it is definitely cheaper than having it done professionally every month.

There are 2 color choices -  white×cream / pink×black.
I chose the vivid color combination!

I was skeptical at first, but I'm glad I gave it a try :)

For shoes, I wore these navy retro-looking shoes, perfect for a rainy day.

#OOTD feeling Japanese

The other day, there was a summer festival at my school, and I wore "yakuta."
Yukata is something like this, and a lot of Japanese people where it to summer festivals and watch fireworks. Yakuta, summer festival, and fireworks...there are something about Japanese summer that is romantic, and I love it:)
Hope I can go to several different festivals this summer!

#OOTD chill in white

I tend to go all white when I want to look breezy, but the weather is still not hot enough to wear a sleeveless top and a short. If white is considered a color (not a shade), it is probably my favorite color. It looks clean and crisp. I added a military green-ish cardigan with small studded details to top of the entire outfit. For accessories, I wore everything dainty and simple. A bit of turquoise in the necklace to give a pop.

#LIFESTYLE let's feel good from the inside.

Hello.

I'm going to get right on topic, and say this very directly...
I gained weight!!! Yes, I did.

Having stayed in Canada for almost one year drinking and eating out a lot,
I did realize that I gained quite some weight, BUT, I didn't actually weigh myself.

And today, for some reason, I randomly and gingerly weighed myself and WHAT A SHOCK!
I was incredulous when I first saw it...lol

Summer is right around the corner, and I should start working out, and tone up.

I'm not trying to get fit so that I can look like models, or anything like that.
I want to wear what I want to wear, in the RIGHT way. That's the only reason.

Restricting what you want to drink and eat is unhealthy mentally and physically.
I can never do that. I love eating and drinking with people.
EXERCISING is the healthiest way  not only to get fit, but also to feel good and positive from the inside.

Thinking back, I haven't been exercising enough the past few years!! omg

Motivation is the key to continue exercising.
Get your favorite gym wear, make a goal with  your friends, follow a fitness account on instagram...find your OWN motivation.

Let's feel good from the inside and wear what we want to wear...♡

my motivation. New NIKE shoes. obsessed.

before going to yoga class today.
(find your favorite type of exercize.)

one of my favorite socks. SUPERMAN!!

chao until the next post :)!

#OOTD Let's Go STRIPE

Hello~

This day, i was feeling stripy!!

I love this bold statement bottom because it's so unique, but it is difficult not to make the outfit look like a pajama!
I added a bright yellow cardigan and wore high heels for shoes to prevent looking so.

A bold fashion piece like this bottom can be a great conversation starter with friends.
Every time I wear this, so many people ask me where I got it from.

what's in my purse?

what's in my purse?
Hello~

Hope everyone is doing well. I am finally free from my dreary stressful midterm, and I am now just waiting for my vacation trip to start in 1 more day!! I will be going to Cuba for 5 nights. I cannot wait to see the sun, beach, and also the inspirational city. I will be staying in Varadero, which is a resort place, mostly relaxing, chilling, and drinking, but I am planning to go to the capital Havana once during the trip to explore the city as well. I will make a post about my trip after I come back!

So before the trip, today, I would like to share my essential items that I carry almost every day with me. Honestly, there is nothing special or exciting, but this post is for those nosy people like me who are just curious about what others are carrying in their bags.  haha

This bag is from Charles & Keith, and I bought this bag last year at the one year anniversary party the brand was hosting. Here is the post I wrote last year about the event :(http://fashionheart118.blogspot.jp/2014/04/charles-keith.html)
I love this bag because it fits a lot of things and they are very sturdy. Since it is so simple in crisp white color, it matches with every outfit, and I am still loving this bag.

I carry....
・camera (so that I can capture every inspirational moment and memories!)
・book currently reading (this is a short story collection by Murakami Haruki in English)
・note book (I just have to write down any ideas or thoughts that popped in my mind, great to look over!)
・pen (of course)
・sunglass (this one is from the brand express)
・perfume of that day (this one is a summery scent from marie claire - you can see that I am already in my vacation mode!)
・wallet (marc jacobs)
・lipstick / lipgloss of that day (lipstick : victoria's secret / lipgloss : TONY MOLY)
・iphone

So these are the items I carry almost every day with me. I try to bring the minimum amount of things with me so I can stay organized as much as possible..!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday. See you in the next post!

5 different #OOTD with one sweater

Hello!
I hope everyone is doing well. It is getting colder and colder everyday in Canada around -23℃ everyday...><!

Today, I would like to show you 5 different #OOTD with only one sweater.
I will be using the sweater I introduced in my previous "New York haul."(http://fashionheart118.blogspot.ca/2015/01/new-york-haul.html)

I love this sweater so much especially since I am all about wearing the minimal style.
This plain classic high neck sweater can be worn both casually and dressy.

First, let's go with casual.

casual①
This is probably my go to outfit. I kept this look super casual with a black skinny denim on the bottom.
I accessorized the look with a statement necklace and a red leather purse.

I love the retro looking purse.
keep the piercing as simple as you can when wearing a statement necklace.

top : Gap
bottom : AZUL
necklace : h&m
piercing : Seoul
watch : marc by marc jacobs
bag : urban outfitters
shoes : dr.martens

casual②
This is another similar casual style with a pop of color around the neck. This scarf is actually as big as a blanket, and I would probably be wrapped around in this big scarf during class at school.

scarf : ???
backpack : BURTON

casual③
I love denim×grey together. The denim vest keeps the look casual, but still makes it a little more interesting. Good way to change up your stale everyday outfit.

 denim vest : urban outfitters

casual / dressy
This is an outfit I would wear to a dinner with friends when I want to keep it look effortless, but still put together. Fur vest is so handy to have because you can throw it over any kind of outfit, and it will instantly make it a lot more classy! I added some colorfulness with the clutch and necklace.

fur vest : Barak
clutch : present
necklace : seoul

dressy
This outfit is what I wore to the bar the other day. I didn't want to freeze my self wearing a sleeveless dress, and this was an alternative solution. And can we take a moment to gaze at this studded shoes!haha I can never have enough studded items! They are perfect edge to the outfit.

skirt : forever21
shoes : I♥MJ

actually... you can always tone down your dressy outfit just by switching some accessories, shoes, etc. Here, I wore my black flat & comfortable dr. martens boots instead of the heels, and added a backpack. I would totally go to school like this in Japan!

there's also an option for bright scarfs - keep warm and cozy!

Hope this post was somewhat inspirational!
There are countless of ways to wear a simple clothing item, so take a good care of your clothes, and love them♡

See you again in the next post~ chao~

~BONUS PICTURE~
this is how I actually dress outside in the winter in Canada most of the time...
IT'S BELOW -20 DEGREES EVERYDAY!!! AGH!
you have to zip up your warmest coat all the way up, and wear your snow boots so that you don't slip!
(yes, i know, very sad. I cannot wait to dress up again in Japan. haha)

coat : Prada
snow boots : Kodiak
